Is Chiropractic Safe?
This is a question many chiropractors get asked on an almost daily basis. Is chiropractic safe for me and my family? The quick answer is “yes”. In general chiropractic is a safe, natural way to realign the spine without using drugs or surgery. That is not to say that drugs or surgery realign your spine in any way. In fact, most people use drugs to hide the symptoms that your spine is in trouble. Pain whether it is localized or traveling down into your arms, legs, hands and feet is a signal to your brain that something is amiss, and you should work to correct it immediately. Surgery is saved for people who have ignored or covered up these symptoms for a long time and now realignment is no longer possible due to deformation of the bones, the surgeon works to stabilize an area which poses a threat to the spinal cord or other nerve tissue.
Now that we understand why we use chiropractic: realignment of the spine to allow for proper functioning of the nervous system. How safe are we talking? Well, let’s use a comparison and standard of measuring. We all know that insurance companies evaluate risks and enjoy raising rates based on what they find are variables that increase the likelihood of you using said insurance. Most chiropractors straight out of school have a malpractice insurance cost of roughly $300 per year. Yes, you read that right, we typically are charged $300 per year during our first year out of school. As you might imagine the average medical doctor’s insurance is astronomically more expensive than that.
Chiropractic is a safe and gentle way to realign the body while allowing for full connection of brain to body.
